Summer usually bring on diverse potpourri of journey. The list of destination just goes on and on. T But the right way to enjoy your summer is to plan in the right venue.

Well this summer I had a decided to visit a land of majestic jewels and king of Arts, Metropolitan Museum which rules America from the edge of Central park in New York with bird’s eye view of the Manhattan Skyline. The local mass call it is as The MET. It is one of the largest art galleries in the world.

Two millions of exhibits from all over the world with ever kind of imaginable kind of mind enters this royal museum and the tour lead through the an Egyptian temple passing the suits of Armor and Dior dinner dresses to Pieter Brueghel’s Corn Harvest.

Metropolitan Museum I

A group of American citizens who founded The Met could not have imagined such an encyclopedic collection will take their place in this museum. It was back in 1870 when this folks thought that America needed an institution for the collection of Arts. The originator consisted of many businessmen and moneymen. The listed also included leading artists and creative thinkers. The very prime motive behind foundation of MET was to bring all art and art education under one roof for the people of America. The excess to museum started from February 20, 1872, and was formerly situated at 681 Fifth Avenue.

In 2007, the Met measured a quarter mile long and absorbs more than two million square feet.

Metropolitan Museum stands with pride in 1000 Fifth Avenue at 82nd street of New York. Many buses reach from East Manhattan and West Manhattan to the Museum. The buses are also available from The Cloister and The Penn station. Well let me tell you that the museum remains closed on the first day of week apart from Thanksgiving Day, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. They are open from Tuesday to Thursday by 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.

Friday and Saturday -9:30 a.m.–9:00 p.m and on Sunday’s it starts from 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.

Well there are no fees on special exhibitions conducted by the museum but there are certainly fees for entrance in the main building. The adults are charged with Adults $20, seniors are liable to pay $15, Students can enjoy in $10 and Members excess in museum  free Children who are under 12 accompanied by any adult enjoy the sight in free.

The Collection of Metropolitan Museum grew quickly when they accredited the task to Architect Calvert Vaux and Jacob Wrey Mould to build a Neo-gothic brick in 1874. At present, the original building is surrounded by many adaptations and extensions.

We can actually say that the history of Metropolitan is tantamount with the history of donors. It was genuinely due to generosity of every individual that metropolitan matured to be the finest museum in United States.
