Shri Naina Devi Ji Temple is a beautiful temple destination in Himachal Pradesh in India. Around 70 km from Bilaspur and around 108 km from Chandigarh, this is indeed a wonderful locale. Located on a triangle hill called the Naina Dhar Hill this is around 3535 feet from the bottom of the Sea Level. Shri Naina Devi Ji Temple is one of the most revered locale for not only Hindu but also Sikh pilgrims.
With the very popular Anandpur Sahib, and Bhakra Dam and Govind Sagar Lake surrounding the pilgrim spot, this is a beautiful temple locale and one of the major attractions in this part of the sub continent. Naina Devi Temple is one of the famous 51 Shakti Peeths according to Hindu mythology and has a great connection with not only Lord Shiva but also Guru Govind Singh. Located at an altitude of 1177 meters in the beautiful state of Himachal Pradesh, this is a magnificent place worth visiting.
Legend has it that Goddess Sati burnt herself alive in a sacrificial yagna. This depressed Lord Shiva a lot and he picked the corpse of Sati on his shoulder and danced his Tandav dance. This shocked all Gods in heaven as they realized this could lead to a holocaust. Lord Vishnu unleashed his Chakra and cut the body of Sati into 51 pieces. It is believed that Naina Devi Temple is the place where the eyes of Sati fell.
Set in the heavenly surroundings n Nainital, this is a popular pilgrim spot for all those touring around this part of the Indian subcontinent. A huge lake here has mountains surrounding it on the three sides. There are many water bodies and lakes hence this is called the city of 60 lakes or Chakta.
