Phoenix, Arizona – Sights and Attractions

Phoenix, Arizona is known for a good deal more than the heat and cactus. The city is a metropolitan area filled with the best of attractions. There is everything that you would expect from a city of this size. There are a great number of activities, sports, restaurants, cultural hubs and more. There is no dearth of sights and things to do.
Phoenix consists of a number of cities that are smaller in size. These are inclusive of cities such as Tempe, Scottsdale, Peoria, Mesa, Glendale, Gilbert, Chandler and some others. Phoenix was incorporated only in 1881.
The city is referred to often as the East Valley, the cities of Tempe, Scottsdale and Mesa have a range of businesses and restaurants on offer. To the west of the valley, Surprise and Glendale are booming as well. Although the housing industry saw a relative slowdown in the recent times, the whole metro area is still doing well.
The comparative slow down that has occurred recently due to the housing crisis has not done much to diminish the vibrant atmosphere of the city. There are a huge number of excellent locations.
Phoenix also has a good sporting background. Major league sport teams such as the Arizona Cardinals, The Diamondbacks, The Suns are achieving success at the national level as well, with the Cardinals appearing in the Superbowl and the NBA playoffs featuring the Suns.
Tourism is a developed industry here, and a good deal of income is derived from it. The climate is relatively warm in the winters, even when most of the United States is blanketed in snow.
