Gaborone – Sights and Sounds

Gaborone is the capital city of Bostwana. The city is among the most rewarding destinations for travelers in the city, and has on offer a great assortment of sights and sounds for travelers. The city is not filled with beauty typically, but there is a range of things to do in Gaborone. The city is also known for having a cost of living that is extremely low. For expatriates in Africa, Gaborone has the lowest cost of living.

The city of Gaborone is located flanked by the Kgale and Oodi Hills. The center of the city is known as the Mall. This is where the major business centers as well as tourism hubs are located. At one end of the Mall is situated the Botswana National Museum.
The Botswana National Museum Houses a range of attractions, and this is inclusive of the National Art Gallery, the Botanical Garden Octagon gallery and the National Library. The museum has a huge range of painting and crafts from the traditional artisans. The museum has preserved the Tsodilo, a notable heritage area in Botswana. The museum is also home to a number of works of art from Thomas Baines and Lucas Sithole. The collection of Bushmen art here is also famous.
The great range of sights inside the city is balanced by a number of attractions outside the city as well. the gaborone Dam, to the south of Gaborone is a famous attraction. You can enjoy boating in the river, and relax and play at the parks and playgrounds. Swimming is not allowed here due to unsuitable conditions.
The Gaborone Game Reserve is located at the east of the city. The reserve is small in size, however, the small size is complemented perfectly by the excellent accessibility on offer here. The reserve is filled with a range of species such as wildebeest, zebra, springbok, warthogs, kudu and others.
